The reel that brained everyone...(including me!)

Well... I think I accidentally "brained" everyone this week! 😂

When I pressed post on my latest reel, I honestly had no expectations. I wasn't trying to go viral or create the perfect piece of content. I had simply come across something fascinating about the brain and thought, "I wonder if other people would find this interesting too?" So I took a deep breath, hit publish and hoped for the best.

What happened next genuinely surprised me. My inbox started filling with people asking me to send them the video, the comments kept coming, and the reel reached far more people than I ever imagined. The biggest surprise of all, though, came from my 19-year-old son. He sent me a message saying it was a perfect example of a good reel. Coming from him, that felt like winning an Oscar! If you're a parent, you'll understand why that compliment meant so much.

The funny part is that the reel itself only runs for about 17 seconds, yet it took me well over an hour to create. I changed things, second-guessed myself, re-recorded parts and wondered more than once whether anyone would even care. If I'm honest, social media has never come naturally to me. I'd much rather be sitting across a table with someone over a cup of tea, talking about wellness and sharing the incredible experiences I've seen with frequency devices than trying to figure out Instagram algorithms.

What this little reel reminded me, though, is that people aren't looking for perfection. They're looking for something that makes them stop scrolling for a moment. They're looking for authenticity, curiosity and a reason to think differently. Sometimes the simplest piece of content is the one that creates the biggest conversation.

It's funny how often we talk ourselves out of doing something because we don't think it's good enough. We wait until we're more confident, more experienced or more polished, when in reality the only way to become those things is to keep showing up. Every reel, every post and every conversation teaches us something new.

So this week I'm celebrating a tiny personal win. Not because the numbers were huge, but because I finally stopped worrying so much about getting it perfect. I simply shared something I believed could help or inspire someone, and that turned out to be enough.

Who knows... maybe the thing you've been putting off is the very thing someone else needs to hear. Sometimes all that's standing between you and an unexpected breakthrough is the courage to press Post.
